Listening to You

Earlier this week, I announced that I will be holding my first budget listening session on Monday, March 6th in Athens.  This listening session is an opportunity for you, the residents of the 87th Assembly District, to share your thoughts regarding the governor’s 2017-19 State Budget proposal.  For more information on this listening session click on the picture below to watch a short video.

Right to Try Legislation Advances

Yesterday, I joined with my colleagues on the Health Committee to recommend the passage of Assembly Bill (AB) 69, better known as the "Right to Try" bill.  This legislation would allow terminally ill patients access to treatments that have passed basic safety testing by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) but are still undergoing the long approval process.  People with a terminal illness do not have the luxury of waiting for these drugs to hit the market. They should have the right to try something that could improve their quality of life and give them more time with their loved ones.  Similar legislation has been enacted in 33 states.  As a proud co-sponsor of this legislation, I hope that Wisconsin will be the next state added to that list.  I look forward to seeing this bill on the Assembly floor soon.

ABATE Legislative Day

Last week, I had the honor of meeting with two groups from ABATE that were in Madison to represent the interests of motorcyclists in our area. It was great for me to hear about the issues important to them. Thank you to everyone who took the time to come to Madison and meet with me!
