The State of the State

The COVID-19 pandemic has created a genuinely unprecedented state of our state. While I recognize these are trying times, the unfortunate reality is that Governor Evers failed to take any responsibility for his administration’s failures during the pandemic – notably the backlog of unemployment benefits that left so many Marathon County families with uncertainty for months on end. I hoped the Governor would have learned from his previous mistakes, but unfortunately, the Governor's vaccine distribution plan is lagging far behind other states.

I remain optimistic that I can find common ground with the Governor on the new State Budget. It is crucial that we all work together to create a budget that responds to our state's needs while continuing the prudent policies that have placed Wisconsin in a strong position to recover from the harm caused by COVID-19.

Marathon County COVID Grant

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, United Way of Marathon County has teamed up with the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin to create the COVID-19 Community Response Fund. This fund is designed to support local efforts combating the effects of the outbreak as efficiently as possible while providing flexibility to organizations that work to improve our community.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s message of equality and brotherhood still resonate today as we commemorate his legacy. I hope that you will take some time to reflect on Dr. King’s message as we celebrate his legacy on Monday, January 18th.
