In the coming week State Representative Ron Tusler (R-Harrison), chairman of the Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections, will hold a hearing to investigate potential voter fraud in our most recent election. I, along with my staff, have been in contact with Rep. Tusler's office conveying the messages I have received in our office about voting irregularities.
Any complaint, concern, or allegation should include the following.
* Specific and first-hand information regarding potential fraud/misconduct. Hearsay or news reports of non-specific events are not useful.
* Detail on the incident/practice being reported (e.g. What, where, when, and who).
* Any supporting materials that would be helpful in vetting the allegation - this could include photos or names of witnesses.
* Contact information - so the person can be reached for clarification or additional information. If people choose to remain anonymous, that is their right, but it may limit the value of their information if it's incomplete.
Many of you contacted our office about a recount of the election. A recount was requested by the Donald Trump campaign for Dane and Milwaukee Counties. This recount will be completed by December 1, 2020.
A post-election audit will occur per state statutes 7.08(6) by the Wisconsin Elections Commission. The process is detailed here. In addition, here is a copy of a letter that was sent to the county clerks about the audit.
Wisconsin has until December 8th to certify its results. The Electoral College meets on Dec. 14th to determine the presidency. Congress counts the electoral votes on Jan. 6, 2021.
Finally, there are multiple legal cases in court as well that are addressing the legality of certain absentee ballots and those that marked themselves indefinitely confined, to name a few. I, like many of you, will be following these cases to see if justice will prevail in our third branch of government.
