Industrial Hemp Bill This week, I was very proud to introduce my first bill for the 2015-2017 session. This legislation, currently known as LRB-1692, would create a state licensing process for the production of industrial hemp.
In the midst of such a serious budget deficit and lagging job growth, I want to find ways to work together to improve our state’s fiscal situation. Industrial hemp has major potential to build and strengthen Wisconsin’s agricultural economy and create jobs in rural communities, and that's why I am hopeful that many of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle will support this bill. State Revenue Numbers and Budget Update: Harder Decisions on the Way This week, the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau informed the Joint Finance Committee that, unlike Governor Walker and many of my colleagues expected, there will be no additional revenue beyond the originally projected numbers for the next two years. Also this week, the JFC concluded voting on the "easier" sections of the budget. This means that some difficult decisions are ahead as the committee addresses the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP), the Educational Communications Board, and many more departments.
From now until the state budget is done, the JFC will meet at least twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday. Each day, the committee works from a new set of "papers" from the Legislative Fiscal Bureau. Update: Prevailing Wage Repeal Senate Bill 49 (SB 49), a bill to repeal Wisconsin's prevailing wage law, was recently taken up in the Senate Committee on Labor and Government Reform, where it failed to pass on a 3-2 vote with bipartisan opposition. It will now be sent to the Senate Committee on Senate Organization, where it can be modified, sent directly to the Senate floor for a vote, or remain in committee.

Gov. Walker Seeks Applicants for Technical College Board Student Representative The Wisconsin Technical College System Board is the coordinating agency for the Technical College System. The student representative to the board is appointed for a term to expire May 1, 2017, must be over the age of 18, a state resident, enrolled at least half-time, and be in good academic standing.
Those interested in the position should submit a cover letter, resume, and the application (see http://www.walker.wi.gov and select the "Apply" tab on the right side of the page). The deadline for submitting application materials is 12 PM this coming Monday, May 11, 2015. If you have questions about the application process, please call Elizabeth Hizmi at (608) 266-1212.
Baraboo High School Athletic Hall of Fame Seeking Volunteers, Coaches

Hall of Fame is seeking volunteers to serve on the committee to assist
with planning the Induction Ceremony. There are two vacancies, and each
position will be a three year term. If interested,
