In this issue:
End-of-session legislative update The Assembly had what will likely be its last session day of the year on Feb. 18th. This is much earlier than previous years. Despite attending 30 different committee meetings since January and considering hundreds of bills in less than a month, this unusual rush to the finish line has left me (and, I am sure, many of you) with an empty feeling. From transportation infrastructure and corrections issues to education funding and broadband expansion, there were many crucial topics that seem to have been left behind by the majority party. This is not the purpose of democracy - I was not elected by you to leave early when there is still so much work left to do. I am searching for ways to keep this work moving, and I am hopeful that my colleagues on both sides of the aisle will do the same.
I have appreciated all the input I received from you throughout this session. I make every effort to respond to each person that contacts me, because I believe it leads to better conversations and helps us understand each other. But with so many bills making their way through the Legislature at once, this can be a difficult process. Fortunately, the Legislature's website provides detailed information on each bill. You can even keep track of specific bills by signing up for the free Legislative Notification Service. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at Rep.Considine@legis.wisconsin.gov, (608) 266-7746, or in room 412 North of the State Capitol. I am happy to serve you as a resource and sounding board anytime.
Wisconsin Ag Women's Summit - March 4-5, 2016 The sixth annual Wisconsin Ag Women's Summit is scheduled for March 4-5 at the Madison Marriott West in Middleton. The final registration deadline is Feb. 26th. The Summit will announce the 2016 AgVocate of the Year, host a panel on topics important to women in agriculture, and hold 15 breakout sessions to address topics important to women in agriculture. Blue Books still available! Copies of the 2015-2016 Blue Book are still available through my office to all residents of the 81st District at no cost to you. Blue Books are a great resource to learn more about Wisconsin government, history, and more. I am glad to personally provide these to my constituents. To request your copy of the 2015-2016 Blue Book, please fill out the Blue Book form on my website or send an email to Rep.Considine@legis.wisconsin.gov with your name, address, and phone number.
