Rep. Meyers Applauds Governor Evers Dedication of
$70 Million to Lodging industry
State Representative Beth Meyers applauded Governor Evers’ recent announcement to dedicate $70 million of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to Wisconsin’s lodging industry.
“The lodging industry is one of the foundations of the Northern Wisconsin economy and I commend the Evers administration for providing this much needed relief to hotel owners across the Northland and our state. I’ve heard from many within the hospitality and tourism industry in the 74th Assembly District since the start of the pandemic who have been struggling to keep their doors open. I’m pleased that this funding will be distributed,” stated Rep. Beth Meyers.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Tourism’s annual report, the tourism industry supported over 157,000 jobs over the course of last year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic. These grants award up to $2 million and have already been distributed to 888 lodging businesses across the state.
