Rep. Meyers Statement Regarding Council on Forestry Appointment
MADISON – Rep. Beth Meyers (D-Bayfield) has been appointment to the Wisconsin Council on Forestry by Gov. Tony Evers. Rep. Meyers released the following statement:
“I’m honored to serve on the Wisconsin Council on Forestry,” said Rep. Meyers. “It is so imperative that we have voices from Northern Wisconsin on the council where forestry plays such an important role in our heritage and our economy. Responsible and sustainable forestry protects our natural resources while also maintaining economic opportunities. I appreciate this important appointment by Governor Evers.”
Appointed by the Governor, the Wisconsin Council on Forestry is a diverse group of leaders in the forestry community who direct Wisconsin’s efforts to achieve sustainable forestry. The Council was created by State Statute 26.02 in July 2002 to advise the governor, legislature, Department of Natural Resources, Department of Commerce and other state agencies on a host of forestry issues in the state.
