Good to Know Info

Cyber Awareness Month

Week three cyber safety tips can be read here. Cyber safety for the young and the elderly is important too! Parents and guardians, please read how to keep kids safe online. Older adults should read and follow Attorney General Brad Schimel’s cyber safety tips here. Don’t let yourself or your loved ones become victims of online exploitation!

 In Progress Legislation

Moving into November we will see a flurry of activity on bills. Committee hearings in October have been very productive in getting legislation to the floor. As chairman of the Public Benefit Reform Committee I can assure you we have been working hard to protect taxpayer investments in assistance programs by eliminating opportunity for waste, fraud and abuse.

Making sure we provide real assistance means more than just handing out benefits. We are working to help folks with short-term need become self-sufficient for long term. Each of our programs, such as FoodShare, have work components and work related requirements for those who participate. My goal as chair of this committee is to make sure those components are not overlooked. We have a duty to improve the opportunity for success for individuals in need in these programs. It is simply not enough to just give a benefit and not encourage future success.

As bills in our committee move forward I will make sure to update you on each. Stay tuned to our e-update and watch for our Weekly Wednesday Facebook Live sessions to start back up next week. As always please feel free to call our office (608-266-0215), email us at rep.krug@legis.wi.gov or message me on Facebook with any comments, questions or concerns.

Centennial Gala

“It’s a once in a lifetime event- and you’re invited! A night of great music, dancing, hosted cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, history and fun.   Come to Madison to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Wisconsin State Capitol. Go back to 1917 and help build the Capitol via the Centennial selfie station, or dance the night away underneath the country’s most beautiful dome-- all at the Centennial Gala on Wednesday, November 8th.  Proceeds from the event will go towards restoring the building, and keeping her looking as good as she did in 1917.
