Industrial Hemp Licensing

Industrial hemp licensing applications are now available for Wisconsin’s research pilot program, and the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection will begin accepting applications immediately. The deadline to apply for the 2018 growing season is May 1st.  

People who want to grow or process industrial hemp in Wisconsin will need to apply for a license, and at the same time, register their intentions to grow or process hemp in the state this year. They can do both online, or download printable forms, at datcp.wi.gov.

Opiate Use Decreasing 

The Department of Safety and Professional Services today released the latest report from the Controlled Substances Board on the gains being made by the Wisconsin Prescription Drug Monitoring Program. In 2017 there were 4,066,083 opioid prescriptions dispensed compared to 5,105,729 in 2015. That’s a 20 percent decrease in opioid prescriptions dispensed from 2015 to 2017, or 1,039,646 fewer prescriptions.
