Stevens Point Salvation Army hopes to raise $175K with Red Kettle campaign

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAW) -- The Stevens Point Salvation Army received a big boost toward its $175,000 fundraising goal Friday.

At the kick off event in Stevens Point, AIG donated $15,000.

Stevens Point Salvation Army Executive Director Bob Quam said donation big and small help get closed to their goal.

"The need is always great. This year seems to be greater. We're seeing more and more people through our shelter and we are also seeing more and more people eating meals at our facility,”

Sen. Patrick Testin and Rep. Katrina Shankland and Portage County Sheriff Mike Lukas all attended the ceremony.

There are 12 Red Kettle locations in Portage County with the new addition of a kettle in Amherst.
