MADISON, WI (WSAU) -- Central Wisconsin will have a direct voice in how the state uses tax dollars.
Rep. Katrina Shankland (D-Stevens Point) has been appointed to the Joint Committee on Finance by Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca.  She'll have direct input on the state budget for 2017-2019 when the new legislative session begins on Tuesday, January 3rd.
“I’m honored to be appointed to the legislature’s Joint Committee on Finance. As a member of the budget committee, I look forward to advocating for a state budget that reflects the priorities of Wisconsin families – through investments in strong infrastructure, thriving public schools and universities, affordable health care, and family-supporting jobs," said Shankland.
“With Wisconsin facing a projected budget shortfall, it’s time to rethink the policies that led us here and commit to reinvesting in our future. I appreciate the opportunity to work collaboratively with my Republican and Democratic colleagues to develop a responsible budget and promote Wisconsin’s rural communities. I will do everything in my power to ensure that the upcoming state budget puts Wisconsin families first.”
Rep. Shankland was also named to the Assembly Committee on Rural Development and Mining.
