Democrats introduce bill for medical marijuana

(WAOW)-- Wisconsin State Democrats announced a bill this week, aiming to create a medical marijuana registry.

According to WPR, the registry would be through the Department of Health Services and would make marijuana accessible through a doctor's approval to people with "debilitating conditions," including cancer and aids.

"I also believe as a legislature that if doctors want to prescribe medical cannabis to alleviate pain and help support chronic pain patients and those who are struggling with debilitating conditions they should be able to," said Assemblywoman Katrina Shankland, D-71st District.

State Republicans have also introduced their own bill that would create a regulatory commission through the Department of Revenue.
