Shankland sworn into sixth Assembly term

Rep. Katrina Shankland (D-Stevens Point) was officially sworn in and began her sixth term as the State Representative for Wisconsin’s 71st Assembly District on Jan. 3.

For the 2023-24 legislative session, Shankland will serve as the ranking member on the Assembly Committee on the Environment and the Assembly Committee on Workforce Development.

She will also serve as a member of the Assembly Committees on Sporting Heritage, Colleges and Universities, and Agriculture. She is also an appointed member of the Governor’s Council on Workforce Investment and the Wisconsin Council on Forestry.

Following the inauguration ceremony, Rep. Shankland released the following statement:

“I am honored and humbled to have the opportunity to continue serving the people of the 71st Assembly District. I am deeply grateful to my constituents for trusting me to be their voice in the Legislature.

“Throughout my time in office, I have prioritized meaningful, bipartisan collaboration and worked to put forward quality legislation that represents the values and concerns of my constituents. During this legislative session, I look forward to reaching across the aisle to continue that important work and tackle the issues affecting us all. I’ve always believed that government should improve people’s lives, and that will continue to be my focus this session.
