This week, I joined with several of my colleagues to introduce a package of bills to support law enforcement officers across Wisconsin.  Currently, our state is struggling to recruit and retain police officers, leading to the fewest number of officers serving in a decade.  The Bill I introduced directs the Department of Justice and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation to create a marketing campaign designed to recruit new law enforcement officers to Wisconsin.  To fund the marketing campaign, this bill directs Governor Evers to utilize $1million in federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.  This marketing campaing will effectively market Wisconsin to new law enforcement officers and assist local governments who are struggling to fill vacant positions.  I am proud to author this Bill and I want to thank our law enforcement officers for the good work they do every day protecting our communities.  Once the bills have an assigned number, I will list the full package in my e-update in the upcoming weeks.
