Rep. Summerfield Statement on Governor’s Budget Recommendations
Seeking Common Ground, Partisan Policy Found

Madison – Rep. Rob Summerfield (R-Bloomer) issued the following statement after Governor Evers’s budget announcement this evening:

“I am hoping to find common ground with Governor Evers’s on some of his budget proposals, such as increasing funding for rural broadband expansion and assisting our local District Attorneys and public defenders. However, I am disappointed with the amount of partisan policy presented tonight by a Governor who ran as a unifier. Many of these proposals set a divisive tone for future negotiations.

"Over the coming days and weeks, I will be reading over the actual budget and digging into the proposals. I look forward to gathering input from my constituents to ensure that this budget accurately reflects the interests of the people of the 67th Assembly District.”

The 67th Assembly District includes portions of Dunn and Chippewa counties.
