Rep. Summerfield Praises Broadband Project Approvals
Madison – Yesterday, the Wisconsin Public Service Commission announced the next round of Broadband Expansion Grant recipients. Of the 58 projects approved, the 67th Assembly District has six projects that will be awarded grant funding.
“Last budget, I voted to put a record $44 million towards expanding broadband access,” Rep. Summerfield stated. “It is great to see those funds being put to good use.”
The list of approved projects will assist in expanding broadband access into a number of rural communities. These expansions are anticipated to allow approximately 78 new businesses and 2174 residences gain access to reliable, high-speed internet.
“In total, my district is set to receive a roughly $14.9 million investment in our broadband infrastructure,” Rep. Summerfield concluded. “This is not only a win for the 67th Assembly District, but for rural broadband as a whole. I look forward to expanding on this progress in this upcoming session’s budget.”
