Supporting our Farmers
Rep. Summerfield celebrates passage of agriculture-support bills
Madison – Rep. Rob Summerfield (R-Bloomer) issued the following statement after the Wisconsin State Assembly passed a series of bills yesterday aimed at supporting Wisconsin’s farmers:
“The agriculture industry has been hit hard over the past several years,” Rep. Summerfield stated. “Yesterday, Wisconsin reaffirmed its support for our farmers statewide.”
The package of bills passed includes new income tax credits for agricultural property, provisions to make healthcare more obtainable and affordable for self-employed individuals, and expanded research projects to ensure farmers have access to cutting-edge technologies and practices.
“Agriculture is a multi-generational industry,” Summerfield concluded. “If we want to attract the next generation of leaders, we need to take care of those currently working in the field. I think these bills are a step in the right direction towards securing that future.”
