Rep. Summerfield Reacts to Governor Evers’ Budget Address

Questions Evers’ Approach

Madison – Rep. Rob Summerfield (R-Bloomer) issued the following statement after Governor Evers’ budget address yesterday:

“The Governor stated last night that we need to “connect the dots” between causes and their effects. However, Evers seems to have forgotten the results of nearly a decade of responsible, Republican budgeting. Our state’s rainy day fund stands at nearly $1 billion today, and we have the lowest tax burden in nearly 50 years. I am concerned the Governor has failed to heed his own advice and seeks to undo these proven results through his massive tax and spending increases.

However, I was encouraged by some of his proposals, including broadband expansion. I will continue to fight for Wisconsin’s small businesses and address the issues we face as a state, such as a shortage in available workforce housing units.”
