Rep. Summerfield Appointed to Bipartisan Water Task Force
Committee established to study water quality statewide
Madison – Yesterday, Rep. Rob Summerfield (R-Bloomer) was appointed to a bipartisan task force of 16 legislators seeking to research ways to curb the contamination of private wells and restore waterways statewide.
“Our state has always been known for its abundant natural resources, and I am proud to represent Northwest Wisconsin on this task force,” said Rep. Summerfield. “This is a good step towards protecting our growing tourism industry and ensuring that future generations will be able to enjoy all the Chippewa Valley has to offer.”
The committee was created in response to a preliminary report detailing the widespread contamination of private wells in Southwestern Wisconsin. The task force will travel the state to hold public hearings, gather information, and, finally, make recommendations on how to improve and protect Wisconsin’s surface and ground water.
Information on the committee’s actions will be forthcoming.
