Rep. Summerfield Statement on Governor’s Budget Recommendations

Increased Investment & Aid to Benefit Rural Areas

Madison…Rep. Rob Summerfield (R-Bloomer) issued the following statement after Governor Walker’s budget announcement today:

“I’m optimistic about the goals laid out in Governor Walker’s budget. Improving our rural schools and rural broadband are some of my top priorities this session, and it’s good to see some positive steps in this direction. Additionally, I’m hopeful that other proposals outlined in the budget will help to encourage economic growth in our area. Providing the tools to earn a steady income and find stable employment, as well as support local businesses, is very important not only to me, but my constituents too.

However, there is still more work to be done. Now that the budget has been released, I will be going over it and working together with my colleagues in the legislature to find fiscally responsible, commonsense solutions. I will also be looking for feedback from my constituents and will be gathering that information through public listening sessions, contacts to my office, and various other outlets. I look forward to making this the best budget possible for Wisconsin.”
