Rep. Summerfield Statement on State of the State Address
Chippewa Valley lawmaker emphasizes importance of rural Wisconsin

Madison – Rep. Rob Summerfield (R-Bloomer) issued the following statement after Governor Walker’s State of the State address, which was given to the joint session of the Wisconsin State Legislature on Wednesday afternoon.

“I’m pleased with and appreciative of the Governor’s renewed focus on rural economic, healthcare, and educational issues; including his continued commitment to addressing the wants and needs of the people of the 67th Assembly District. Job growth, affordable healthcare, and quality education are all issues that are very important to our area. This past session, we made major strides in these areas – from an extra $14 million added to the state’s Broadband Expansion Grant program, to the largest investment in K-12 funding in state history at over $600 million, to voting to guarantee coverage for preexisting conditions.

The Governor did a great job today laying out a plan that will build upon the foundation of these successes moving forward. I’m especially excited to work together with him and my colleagues in the Legislature on his proposals to create both the $50 million Rural Economic Development Fund and the Healthcare Stability Plan.”
