Speaker’s Task Force Releases Findings

Bipartisan recommendations seek to address water quality

Madison – Today, State Representative Rob Summerfield (R-Bloomer), along with Chairman Todd Novak (R-Dodgeville), Vice-Chair Katrina Shankland (D-Stevens Point) and other members of the Speaker’s Task Force on Water Quality, released the task force’s findings and legislative recommendations in a press conference.

“It has been an eye opening experience traveling around Wisconsin, listening to personal stories and hearing testimony from industry experts on the impact contaminated water is having on our state,” Rep. Summerfield said. “I am committed to seeing these bills get across the finish line.”

The task force held 14 hearing across Wisconsin, including Menomonie. Thirteen bills based on the information collected were announced during the press conference.

“I am pleased with how bipartisan the entire process has been,” Summerfield concluded. “We were able to put aside politics for the people of Wisconsin to address this pressing issue. I hope this sets a precedent moving forward on how to reach across the aisle and get things done.”
