Election Reform Legislation Heads to the Governor

Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) released the following statement regarding the legislative approval of a series of much-needed election reforms.

“Voting is one of the most important rights and responsibilities U.S. citizens have, it’s our duty to protect that constitutional right from being exploited.

“In this last presidential election, there was indisputable evidence of irregularities right here in Wisconsin, so the Legislature took immediate action to close loopholes, standardize procedures, establish uniformity, guarantee only the voter can correct their own ballot, and keep out-of-state billionaires from controlling election administration.

“Public confidence was shaken with regard to the integrity and transparency of our elections; that’s why we prioritized making critical reforms. Voters need to feel their vote is safe and fairly counted. I am proud to support this series of bills to improve our future elections.”
