Welcome to my e-update

Thank you for taking the time to read this week's e-update. I always strive to include information you find interesting and informative as it relates to my work in Madison and the 60th Assembly District.

My most important goal remains serving you, my constituents. Helping you find solutions to difficult problems when it seems like the state is unresponsive is the single greatest reward for my staff and me. I take constituents' input seriously and continually work hard on your behalf.

I always have your thoughts and concerns in mind when deciding whether or not to support legislation. Furthermore, I appreciate when you take time out of your busy schedules to contact me.

Have a great week,

Committee Chairmanship
Legislative Council_Study Committee.jpg

This week, I was honored to be reappointed co-chairman of the Joint Legislative Council. The Joint Legislative Council is tasked with creating study committees to address issues of paramount importance to Wisconsinites.

These committees are unique, as both legislators and citizens serve as members, which allows for greater dialogue and feedback from those possessing first-hand experience in a particular issue area.

As chairman of this session's Joint Legislative Council Study Committee on Child Placement and Support, I know that study committees are effective in formulating legislative solutions to real-life problems. If there are particular issues you would like the legislature to form a study committe on, do not hesitate to contact my office.

Capitol Christmas Tree

The 2018 Wisconsin State Capitol Christmas tree is up, decorated, and ready for the Christmas season.

This year's tree, a balsam fir, measuring 35 and 40 feet, was donated by Don and Mary Miller and harvested in Plainfield. The dairy-themed ornaments showcased on this year's Capitol Christmas tree were designed by elementary school students from across the state.

If you are in Madison, be sure to stop by my office, 216 North, and check out this year's Capitol Christmas tree.

Legislation

My staff and I are in the process of formulating our legislative agenda for the forthcoming session. If there are specific issues you would like the legislature to address, my office would be happy to discuss those issues with you.

I look forward to working with my colleagues and Governor-elect Evers to continue moving our state forward.

Working hard on your behalf

Since the publication of our last e-update, I was honored by CESA 6 for actively engaging in conversations with school board members, superintendents, and school district staff. My staff and I enjoy attending CESA 6's monthly legislative breakfasts and discussing education-related issues with public school officials.

Additionally, I was honored to be named 2018 Legislator of the Year by the Wisconsin Housing Alliance, for my work on making rental housing safer and more affordable for all Wisconsinites.

Port Washington North Breakwater Light recognized for historic significance

Breakwater Light.jpg

This week, Port Washington's North Breakwater Light was added to both the National Register of Historic Places and State Register of Historic Places.

For more than 80 years, Port Washington's North Breakwater Light has been a staple of the community and instrumental in assisting with navigation through the harbors of Lake Michigan.

This week's designation of the Port Washington North Breakwater Light as a national and Wisconsin historic landmark, is a win-win for Port Washington, Great Lakes shipping, and tourism. I can think of no landmark in the 60th Assembly District that is more deserving of historic designation status than the Port Washington North Breakwater Light.
