Working for you!

Constructing a Solid Budget

The U.S. 10 / WIS 441 bridge project is vital to the Fox Valley and I want to thank Governor Walker for keeping it on schedule and funded. Tough decisions still need to be made and right now the legislature is doing its duty by vetting those decisions. At the end of the day, we’re going to come together and pass the best budget for Wisconsin.

Thursday morning, Governor Walker, Senator Roth, and I held a press conference about this project in Neenah. You can watch the press conference on my Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/RepDaveMurphy/posts/613092922194394

Keeping College Affordable

Yesterday, the Joint Finance Committee approved two measures I support to control college costs for UW System students: a two-year extension of the tuition freeze and a freeze on other fees until clear and consistent fee assessment policies are adopted. Both initiatives go a long way in making college affordable for Wisconsin students and families.

On April 29th I met with student leaders from campuses across Wisconsin at UW–Fox Valley.

Still Learning from Tommy's Leadership

Monday, we announced the creation and funding of the Tommy G. Thompson Center on Public Leadership at UW–Madison. The center will draw on Governor Thompson’s legacy and the individuals he mentored to advance effective public leadership research, teaching, outreach, and policy reform. A large component of the center’s funding and mission is dedicated to activities outside of Madison and I’m looking forward to seeing the tremendous work they will do.

Honoring Our Fallen Soldiers

On Monday we honor those who have made the greatest sacrifice for our nation by giving their lives in the line of duty.

Happy Birthday Wisconsin!

Monday also marks the 169th anniversary of Wisconsin becoming the 30th state in the nation.
