This Week it's all about
Health! |
As a newly appointed member on the Assembly Committee on Health, I
get to dive into health-related issues even more for our
district and the state. Next week, there is a public hearing in
the Assembly Committee on Health on two bills:
Assembly Bill 59: This bill affects terminology changes and
corrections for emergency medical technicians and first
responders.
Assembly Bill 69: This bill, often called 'Right to Try',
gives certain individuals with a terminal illness, who have
exhausted all medical options and received a recommendation from
their doctor, the option to try an investigational drug.
The public
hearing is at 10:00am on Wednesday February 22nd at the Capitol in
room 225 Northwest. No voting happens in a public hearing, since
the sole purpose is to listen to the public and gather input on
specific proposals. So, please feel free to come and testify at
the hearing or contact me with your thoughts on these proposals.

Congrats Tri-County
Community Dental of Appleton! |
Tri-County Community Dental of Appleton was awarded a grant from
Delta Dental of Wisconsin to fund their Focus on Children
program. Tri-County Dental provides services to those in
Outagamie, Winnebago and Calumet counties. According to the Delta Dental press release, Focus on
Children is a preventive care and treatment program that screens
young children for dental issues and offers preventive
maintenance and restorative services. “The program serves 67
schools through its school-based and mobile bus programs and has
led to a 37 percent increase in sealants placed and a more than
10 percent decrease in emergency or urgent cases,” –Delta
Dental. Good oral hygiene and dental care are critical to
overall health, and getting children off to the best start
possible is so important. Well done, Tri-County! |
Partnership for Community
Health Center Office Visit |
Speaking of another great organization who provides healthcare to
our community, folks from Partnership Community Health Center (PCHC)
in Appleton visited my office to let me know their priorities,
successes and challenges.
PCHC is a leader in our area for providing many valuable
services to vulnerable populations in Outagamie, Winnebago and
Calumet counties. Keep up the great work!
