Great news for the Fox Valley! The Joint Finance Committee (JFC), on a bipartisan vote, released the $350 million available
in the budget to fund critical road projects around the state
including US 10/WIS 441 and Highway 15.
This funding was already set aside in the budget and just needed
to be released by the JFC. I have worked hard to convince my colleagues to
take action on the available funding because this will reduce the delay
on these projects from two years to one year. Even with the $350
million in bonding, the state's total bonding is at the lowest
it has been in the last decade. Please see my public statement
below:
Rep. Murphy Statement on Funding for Transportation Projects
(Madison)...Representative Dave Murphy (R-Greenville) released
the following statement in response to the Joint Finance
Committee's (JFC) vote to release $350 million in contingency
bonding to prevent delays to critical road projects:
"The JFC's decision to release the funding allocated for road
projects in the budget is good news for the Fox Valley,” said
Murphy. “The Highway 10/441 and Highway 15 projects will now get
increased funding to put them back on a better timeframe.”
“I fought for the Fox Valley projects because I place a high
priority on good infrastructure. Projects already in progress
should always take a higher priority than those not begun. We
all get tired of dodging those orange construction barrels, and
the release of these funds will get those barrels out of our way
sooner.”
“Going forward, we have an audit of the State Highway Program in
the works. We are working on other legislation to improve
efficiencies in our transportation construction and we will
continue to explore ways to enhance revenue for the
Transportation Fund.”
