COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility Update

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services announced that Wisconsinites who are 65 and older are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine beginning January 25, 2021. Currently, frontline health care workers, residents in long-term care facilities (nursing homes and assisted living facilities), and police and fire personnel are eligible. For more information, please go HERE.

COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution

As of January 13, approximately 4,390 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to Winnebago County residents. Among those being vaccinated are healthcare workers and nursing home staff and residents.

Even with vaccine distribution beginning, it will still take months to reach community immunity, so we must continue to stay home, wear a mask, physically distance, and practice good hand hygiene. For more information, please go HERE.

Avoid COVID-19 Vaccine Scams

With the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines underway, it is important that you remain vigilant of scammers. Signs to look out for include:

  • You are asked to pay out of pocket for the vaccine
  • You are asked to pay to put your name on a waiting list or to get early access
  • Advertisements for vaccines through social media platforms, email, telephone calls, online, or from unknown sources
  • Offers to sell or ship doses of the vaccine for payment

If you believe that you have been the victim of COVID-19 vaccine fraud, immediately report it to:

  • FBI Hotline: 1-800-CALL-FBI | fbi.gov
  • HHS-OIG Hotline: 1-800-HHS-TIPS | hhs.gov
  • CMS/Medicare Hotline: 1-800-MEDICARE
