First Responder of the Year Award

First Responder Camille Vandermolen.jpg

On Thursday, the Assembly had a ceremony during our floor session to honor and recognize all first responders, notably one nominated first responder from each district that participated. From District 52, we nominated Detective Camille Vandermolen from the Fond du Lac Police Department for all of her hard work and dedication to continue to make Fond du Lac and Wisconsin a safe place for its citizens.

Floor Session Updates

On Tuesday, the Senate had its floor session where SB 322, the Senate version of my bill (AB 358), passed unanimously. The Assembly version of the bill, which relates to tracking of sexual assault kits in sexual assault cases, is still in committee. With both versions of the bill having bipartisan support, I expect the bill to move quickly through the Assembly and be put on the Governor's desk soon! Unfortunately, the Assembly floor session did not incorporate any of my bills this time around; however, we still passed some great bills that should help out many Wisconsinites. You can see which bills were voted on here.

National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL)

Towards the end of September, I attended the NCSL 2019 Jobs Summit where I listened to many speakers touch on various topics of the U.S. workforce as information for legislators to help maintain a strong economy. Topics included new future job opportunities for states, future mobility of jobs, apprenticeships, prosperity of job growth in the community, the changing nature of jobs, workforce, and benefits, preparing tomorrow's workforce, linking workers to jobs, safety nets for future workers, and whole-family approaches to career pathways. The summit certainly provided great information for me to become a better, more-effective legislator for you in creating and voting for legislation that will maintain the strong economy Wisconsin has had for several years.
