Wisconsin Dental Association

Wisconsin Dental Association.jpg

On Tuesday, I had a meeting with dentists and dental students, including constituents Dr. Tim Harper and Dr. Chad Goeke, from the Wisconsin Dental Association about issues facing the dental community. I always enjoy a productive discussion with groups, especially when constituents are involved, to find ideas for legislation to help improve the 52nd District and the rest of Wisconsin.

Municipal Judge Bill Passes

During Tuesday's floor session, AB 204/SB 214, my municipal judge bill, passed with bipartisan support! It is now off to the Governor's desk to be signed. This piece of legislation will make changes to the state statutes in order to provide consistency and clarity in areas that apply to our municipal court system. Many parts of the 52nd District utilize the Lakeside Municipal Court which alleviates much of the case load of our circuit courts.

Veterans Bill Update

One of the three veterans bills I referenced last week that I have introduced has passed unanimously out of its Assembly committee on Tuesday! AB 672, which relates to legal custody and physical placement factors for a child of a service member, is now in the next phase of being voted on before the entire Assembly in likely one of the next couple of floor sessions. The other two bills are close behind in the process. I look forward to increasing the benefits of our well-deserved military members in Wisconsin.

Census Bureau Hiring

Census Day is coming soon on April 1, 2020. This is the first census in which people will be able to participate via the internet. The Census Bureau still needs, however, to hire thousands of part-time and full-time field workers. It is very important that the state is fully counted, since many rural areas lack full internet coverage. Therefore, the Census Bureau is looking to hire many people to reach this goal. This link is where you can fill out an application. This next link provides pay-rates for census takers, broken down by county. $18 an hour in Fond du Lac is some good money!
