Highway 23 Call to Citizen Action
Two more serious crashes. Another fatality. On April 7th the carnage continued on Hwy. 23 between Fond du Lac and Plymouth. As with most prior crashes on this stretch of highway, each occurrence may have been averted if planned safety enhancements had been in place to mitigate, or even eliminate these terrible accidents and deaths.
As legislators, we have publicly expressed our dismay to Federal District Court Judge Lynn Adelman regarding his 2015 decision to delay the long-planned safety expansion of State Hwy. 23 from Plymouth to Fond du Lac.
It is imperative that those who are holding up the Hwy. 23 safety expansion project also hear from concerned citizens. Some of you may have already done so, but we now call on citizens and organizations to also respectfully share your frustration with Judge Adelman over his decision. In addition, contact the 1000 Friends of Wisconsin. This group has labeled the project as “wasteful” on their website and is the originator of the lawsuit that precipitated the Judge’s action.
We are not alone in publicly addressing this issue to Judge Adelman. Other groups advocating for the Hwy. 23 project to be reinstated include: the Sheboygan County Transportation Department, Fond du Lac County Board, Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation, Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation and Sargento Foods, Inc. If your organization is impacted by the delay of this project, please consider directly addressing your thoughts as well.
