Rep. Novak Applauds Building Commissions Unanimous Approval of Cox Hollow Dam Repairs
Madison…This week the State of Wisconsin Building Commission took action and approved important projects throughout the state.
The approved project will repair the Cox Hollow Dam with several improvements, and additions: slip-lining the existing corrugated metal pipe low level lake drain conduits; repairing the low level lake drain sluice gate; providing permanent access to the low level lake drain sluice gate structure via a catwalk; placing rip rap on the upstream slope of the embankment and in the low level lake drain outfall pool; installing vegetative management on the embankment and spillway; repairing concrete on the fixed crest spillway; and repairing erosion on the embankment.
“I recently authored a letter to Rep. Swearingen, a member of the Building Commission, urging him to support the project. The letter conveyed my support for the proposed repair project. I expressed how the repairs and improvements will make for a more structurally sound Dam. These repairs will bring the dam into compliance with safety regulations and improve public safety.”
“On behalf of my constituents and all those that visit Governor Dodge State Park, I want to thank the Building Commission for taking action on the proposed repairs. Cox Hollow Lake is an essential recreational feature of Governor Dodge State Park and provides campers and day-use visitors many recreational opportunities.”
The proposal passed with unanimous support by the Building Commission. Construction is planned to occur during non-peak seasons to minimize impacts to park users.
