Governor Walker to Appoint Koehler Judge
Madison…State Representative Todd Novak (Dodgeville) has announced that Governor Scott Walker will be appointing Margaret “Peg” Koehler as the Iowa County Circuit Court Judge effective July 1.
Koehler was elected to the position on April 5, with her term to begin in August. In November, Judge William Dyke announced he would not be seeking re-election. Shortly after he became ill and was not able to serve his duties as judge since January. Unfortunately, Judge Dyke passed away in March.
Novak said Iowa County has only one circuit court judge, adding that since January there has been a rotation of reserve judges filling in. The carousel of judges has caused a back load of cases in the court.
“By allowing Judge Elect Koehler to start her term early, it will help provide stability to the Iowa County Court system,” said Novak.
Rep. Novak and Koehler asked Governor Walker for the early appointment shortly after the election. “I’m pleased the Governor approved the appointment on behalf of the citizens of Iowa County. I look forward to Judge Elect Koehler taking her seat on the bench that was not only held by Judge Dyke, but her father Judge James Fiedler as well.”
