Criminal Justice Committee Meeting

This week the Assembly Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety met for an executive Session and public hearing. During the public hearing portion we heard testimony on Assembly Bill 400 (AB 400). AB 400 strengthens existing state statutes relating to incidents of elder abuse and abuse of adults with disabilities. There is a loophole in current state statutes that can prevent the requirement of an investigation when incidents of physical, financial, emotional, or other neglect are reported.

Preventing the abuse and exploitation of our most vulnerable groups in Wisconsin continues to be a major legislative priority for me and the rest of the Legislature. The Legislature passed similar measures earlier this session to strengthen laws aimed at preventing abuse of these groups. Many of these measures have received bipartisan support. I look forward to continuing our work on this important issue.

 Iowa County Fair Recap

I had a great time at the Iowa County Fair livestock auction last weekend. I purchased a turkey raised & shown by Dana Hanson. I've always bought Dana's poultry entry since I was elected 8 years ago. It was bittersweet as this is her last year showing. Thanks to all the kids that put so much work into their fair animals!

Also a reminder that the Richland County Fair is being held this weekend, more information on the event please click the link here.

9/11 Anniversary

This Saturday marks the 20th Anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks. We will never forget the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We will also always remember the brave first responders that answered the call when we needed them most.
