Kwik Trip Grand Opening

This week I had the honor to attend and speak at the ribbon cutting of the grand opening of the new Kwik Trip store in Dodgeville. The expanded store is a great addition to Dodgeville.

It was also great to catch up with Kwik Trip founder & CEO Don Zietlow. Kwik Trip has over 750 stores across the Midwest and is continuing to grow. Kwik Trip has a strong reputation for their support of the communities they are located in and the how they treat their employees.

In honor of the grand-opening, Kwik Trip donated $1000 to the Dodgeville Police Department and Iowa County Suicide Prevention coalition.
Mound City Bank Meeting

This week, Rep. Travis Tranel and I met with the Mound City Bank Board of Directors in Platteville. Mound City Bank has two branches in the 51st Assembly District, Belmont & Mineral Point. We had a good discussion on pending banking legislation, the economy & other issues. We followed up with a question-and-answer session with the board. Thanks to Mound City Bank & the Wisconsin Bankers Association for the invitation.

Good Luck Hunters
Wisconsin's gun deer season begins this Saturday, November 20th and runs through next Sunday, November 28th. This is a great Wisconsin tradition and a vital part of maintaining a healthy herd in the state. Best of luck to everyone heading out this week and I hope you have a safe, fun and successful hunt!

DATCP Dairy Processor Grants

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) invites Wisconsin dairy processors to apply for dairy processor grants through January 7, 2022. These grants aim to foster innovation, improve profitability, and sustain the long-term viability of Wisconsin’s dairy processing facilities.

Eligible applicants must operate a licensed dairy processing plant in Wisconsin that is engaged in pasteurizing, processing, or manufacturing milk or dairy products. Projects must increase harvest capacity or production. Funding from these grants can be used to address a wide range of dairy business needs such as food safety, staff training, plant expansion or modernization, and professional consulting services.

Grants will be awarded for projects up to $50,000 and two years in duration. Processors are required to provide a match of 20 percent of the grant amount. Recipients will be chosen through a competitive selection process.

The grant application is available at Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022. Grant recipients will be announced in February 2022.
