First Responder of the Year Nominations

We are looking for and still accepting nominations for First Responder of the Year. Any Police/Sheriff Officer, Firefighter (paid or volunteer), and EMS personnel in the district is eligible. Nominations can be based on a variety of things including heroic action, professional achievement, body of work over time, something special they do, and/or their length of service. I will select one nominee to be featured with nominees from around the state to be featured during the October Floor Period as part of First Responders Appreciation Month. Nominations are due on September 6th. Click here to access the form.

Green Bay and Marinette Water Quality Hearings

Last week, the Speaker’s Task Force on Water Quality held its 11th and 12th public hearings in Green Bay and Marinette, respectively. We got to hear from the Wisconsin Wetlands Association, the Fox Wolf Watershed Alliance, the Alliance for the Great Lakes, the American Chemistry Council, the DNR, the River Alliance, and members of the public. I am thrilled with the progress of the task force and look forward to our final hearings that will take place in Menomonie and Superior this upcoming week. As I've stated before, each hearing has brought a new perspective on Wisconsin’s water quality challenges. I look forward to crafting a finished product that will have a positive impact now and for future generations to come. Thank you to everyone who has participated in our hearings or contacted my office to express their ideas and give input.
