Attorney General Visits Dodgeville
On Monday, I had the opportunity to host Attorney General Josh Kaul and local leaders of the community to collaborate about what priorities local leaders and the legislature should address in order to better serve Wisconsin residents experiencing a mental health crisis. Thank you again for coming to visit: I am looking forward to helping our communities find ways to address issues facing our most vulnerable neighbors.
Milwaukee Water Quality Task Force Meeting
On Tuesday, the Water Quality Task Force went to Milwaukee. We began our day with a tour of the UW-Milwaukee School of Freshwater Sciences, and got to hear about the groundbreaking work they are doing from Eric Leaf, the Assistant Dean for Advancement, and J. Val Klump, the Dean of the School of Freshwater Science. We then went out on Lake Michigan on the school’s research vessel, the RV Neeskay (which, coincidentally, is named for the Ho-Chunk word for “Clean Water”). On our way back to shore, I was presented with the Wisconsin state flag which flew on the front of the vessel by Captain Greg Stamatelakys and UW-Milwaukee Vice Chancellor Tom Luljak.
After our tour, the task force heard from speakers from local Milwaukee water groups such as the Milwaukee River Keepers, the Milwaukee Water Commons, the City of Milwaukee Water Works, as well as members of the public. I am looking forward to our next hearing in Green Bay, and am optimistic that we are able to create a bipartisan solution that will take needed action to solve the local water crises in Wisconsin.
Thank you for reading, and have a great week!
