Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

In the spirit of the season, I would like to take a moment to reflect on our accomplishments as well as recognize those who have tirelessly served our community and our state. This year, I was honored to celebrate two individuals from Southwest Wisconsin who have made a difference in the lives of many. Al Michek of Highland was recognized as a “First Responder of the Year” for being the longest serving EMT in the state, as well as the late Joe Tregoning, who served the state in a variety of roles, including as State Representative for the 51st Assembly District. Taking time to pause and recognize the legacies of people like Al and Joe are what the Christmas season is all about.

This year also brought about a call to address clean water throughout our state as I was appointed chairman of the Water Quality Task Force. Our travels brought us around the state as we listened to the concerns of hundreds of citizens. This holiday season, I am thankful for my time spent serving the residents of the 51st Assembly District. I appreciate the calls, letters, postcards, and everyone who has stopped by to visit my office in Madison.

On behalf of me and my staff, Jake, Ben and Morgan, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Congratulations Tony Ruesga!

Last Friday, I presented Sergeant Tony Ruesga with a flag flown over the state capitol, as a small token of thanks for his service with the Darlington Police Department. Sergeant Ruesga served as a police officer with the Darlington Police for 20 years. Now he will be serving as Chief of Police for the Village of Cross Plains. Congratulations on your new role, Chief Ruesga, and I wish you the best!

 Mental Health Committee

On Tuesday, the Assembly Committee on Mental Health met for a public hearing and executive session. We voted on a bill relating to Emergency Detention, and heard testimony about expanding telehealth mental health treatment and creating a mental health consultation pilot program for schools.
