 Wisconsin's Newest State Symbol

On Thursday morning, I met Governor Walker, Senator Marklein, and the Mineral Point 4th Graders at Mineral Point Elementary School to sign the law designating cheese as Wisconsin's State Dairy Product. Following the ceremony, each student received a pen from the Governor's desk as a token of their efforts. Once again, I want to thank the teachers, Mrs. Doyle, Mrs. Grimm, and Mrs. Ross, for helping the students with this project. Most of all, congratulations to the 4th grade class. You did it!

Governor Walker also signed AB95 which I authored to allow a school board member the ability to return their salary and avoid income tax payments on that amount. This legislative session is off to a great start and I look forward to continuing to serve the 51st Assembly District.

Wisconsin Catholic Conference

This week, Larry Haas, the Associate Director for Education and Health Care for the Wisconsin Catholic Conference, visited my office. Our conversation focused on criminal justice reform and finding ways we can improve reentry into the workforce and ensure that first time, nonviolent, 17-year old offenders be returned to the juvenile justice system and kept out of adult institutions. Thank you for stopping by and advocating on behalf of your organization.
