International Women's Day

On Thursday, we celebrated International Women's Day to recognize the social, economic, and political achievements of Women around the world. According the National Conference of State Legislatures, this year, the share of women legislators exceeded 25% for the first time. Click on the image above to view a video shot, edited, and produced entirely by women featuring some of the wonderful women I have the privilege of working with in Madison.

Highland Elementary Class Resized.jpg

Highland Elementary

TJ Cool, Senior at Highland High School and intern in my office, invited me to Highland Elementary to give a presentation to the 4th grade class on how state government operates. Topics included the three branches of government and how a bill becomes a law. When asked if they had any questions, one student asked "Why do you debate and vote on bills. Wouldn't it be easier to decide things by using rock, paper & scissors?" TJ organized this presentation as part of his Senior Exit Project. Thank you for having me!

Dodgeville Elementary

I was invited to visit a class of 4th & 5th graders at Dodgeville Elementary for "Read Across America Week." I read the Dr. Seuss book My Many Colored Days, talked about my job, and answered some great questions on state government. They were a great and attentive group!
