The State of the State

This week on Tuesday night, I attended the Wisconsin State of the State Address. Governor Evers did not deliver his remarks in person and instead submitted a video address. I'm glad to hear that the Governor is putting an emphasis on broadband access in our state.

Paycheck Protection Program

The Paycheck Protection Program is an important loan program put out by the U.S. Small Business Association. This program works to help small businesses ensure that they can keep their workforce employed during these difficult times. This program recently reopened and is accepting applications for new borrows and certain current borrowers.

This week, January 16-17, is free fishing weekend here in Wisconsin! You can fish almost anywhere in Wisconsin without a license. Get outside and enjoy! Click on the graphic above for more information.

Be sure to check ice conditions before heading out. You can always check with a local bait shop for current ice conditions where you plan to fish. Learn more about ice safety.

Virtual Support Groups for Farmers and Farm Couples

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) announced that the Wisconsin Farm Center will hold a series of virtual farmer support groups to begin in February. The various groups will be offered at different dates and times to accommodate famers’ schedules and are open to farmers and their spouses at no cost. Participants can be located anywhere in Wisconsin but must register in advance will be limited to 20 participants, with a couple counting as one attendee. I thought this would be an excellent resource to share, especially after Wisconsin Farm Bureau shared the story of one of our neighbors this past week.
