Hometown Hero 040919-6.JPGOn Tuesday, the Wisconsin State Assembly honored the men and women of the Wisconsin National Guard (WING) who had participated in the Southwest Border Mission. Click on the photo to hear my remarks.

Karen Knock, the Richland County Veterans Service Officer, was one of the members of the WING who was honored this past Tuesday.

Some statistics from the Nine Month Mission: 

 - 178 Soliders; 11 Airmen volunteered for active duty to participated in the Southwest Border Mission

- Mission was from June 2018 through March 2019

- Assisted Customs and Border Patrol agents with four different mission packages

- Filled roles such as radio operators, sensor operators, motor transport maintenance personnel, and range safety operators

- Assisted with seizing over 8,300 pounds of marijuana and over 200 pounds of Methamphetamines 

 - Beginning in January of 2019, WING sent 3 UH60 helicopters to Arizona which assisted in confiscating 10 bundles of Marijuana
