Reps. Novak and Tranel Announce Investment in Development of SW Wisconsin

MADISON – State Representatives Todd Novak (Dodgeville) and Travis Tranel (Cuba City) announced that the budget-writing Joint Finance Committee (JFC) approved their request for funding to help further economic development in southwest Wisconsin. Partnering with the successful regional economic development organization, Prosperity Southwest Wisconsin, the JFC appropriated a sum of $250,000 for the purpose of spurring additional growth in Crawford, Grant, Green, Lafayette and, Richland Counties.

“The foundation of a strong community is a thriving economy and an able workforce,” said. Rep. Travis Tranel. “I’m proud to have played a role in helping to secure these funds that will allow Prosperity Southwest Wisconsin to expand job growth opportunities in our communities.”
These dollars were repurposed to assist a regional organization with a proven track record of successfully managing a revolving business loan program.
“This is an incredible opportunity for businesses and entrepreneurs in southwest Wisconsin,” said Rep. Novak after the JFC vote. “These dollars have the potential to help area businesses expand and give struggling startups the assistance they need to become economic engines in our communities.”
The budget, which is currently before the Joint Finance Committee, is expected to come before the State Assembly for a vote sometime in June.
