A Southwest Wisconsin State lawmaker is behind a campaign launched by Governor Scott Walker to press NFL players to stand for the national anthem. The Governor has launched an online petition and digital ad campaign to build pressure on the NFL and its’ players to stop protesting the national anthem and flag. The players have long made it clear that they are not protesting the flag, but rather police brutality committed against people of color and racial and social injustice. State Assemblyman Travis Tranel of Cuba City says while he respects the players’ rights to protest In a peaceful manner, he would much rather have them stand during the national anthem.
