Madison, WI – This week, Governor Tony Evers appointed Missy Hughes to be the next Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) CEO and Secretary.  Most recently, she served as the Chief Mission Officer and General Counsel for Organic Valley.  Currently, she sits on the USDA’s Advisory Committee on Biotechnology and 21st Century Agriculture. State Representative Travis Tranel (Cuba City-R) released the following statement on Hughes’ appointment to become the next WEDC Secretary and CEO:

“Missy Hughes is a very good choice to lead the state’s top economic development organization.  I have had the pleasure of working with her at Organic Valley, as a member farmer, and believe she will bring new energy and innovative economic development ideas to the position.  Every corner of our great state is full of economic opportunity that can be leveraged to help Wisconsin businesses grow and prosper.  I appreciate that she is committed to a statewide approach to economic development involving all 72 counties.”
