Rep. Travis Tranel:  Final State Budget Good for Southwest Wisconsin

Today Governor Scott Walker signed the 2017-2019 Wisconsin State Budget that invests in Southwest Wisconsin.

“I would like to thank Governor Walker for signing a budget that supports the priorities of Southwest Wisconsin,” said Rep. Tranel. “This budget reduces the tax burden while still making significant investments in K-12 education, local road aid, UW-Platteville, rural broadband, and worker training programs to help our area employers.”

Working with fellow Southwest Wisconsin legislators, Rep. Tranel was able to include $79 million in the budget to help build UW-Platteville’s Sesquicentennial Hall engineering building and renovate the Boebel Hall science facility.  Rep. Tranel also successfully added a provision to help the Village of Cassville by preventing the unexpected loss of $215,000 in utility aid payments over the course of the next several years.

“It is fantastic that Governor Walker signed a budget which will help the Village of Cassville and significantly invests in UW-Platteville’s future,” said Tranel.  “I would like to thank Senator Marklein, Representative Novak, and Representative Brooks for all of their help to make improvements to the budget that benefit the citizens of Southwest Wisconsin.  It takes a team pulling together to get good things done.”
