Rep. Tranel to Chair the Assembly Tourism Committee

Madison, WI – State Assembly Speaker Robin Vos has appointed southwest Wisconsin State Representative Travis Tranel (R-Cuba City) to serve as Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Tourism for the 2015-17 legislative session.

“It’s an honor to have been chosen to serve as Chairman of the Assembly Tourism Committee,” said Tranel.  “Tourism is a very important part of southwest Wisconsin’s economy.  I look forward to working with my colleagues and industry leaders on innovative ways to promote and grow our state’s tourism economy during the upcoming legislative session.”

During the last legislative session, Rep. Tranel co-authored and passed legislation to help promote and expand Wisconsin’s emerging ag-tourism industry.

Wisconsin’s tourism industry had a $17.5 billion economic impact on the state’s economy in 2013.  This important industry is responsible for directly and indirectly sustaining 185,000 Wisconsin jobs.

On Monday, January 5, 2015 Rep. Tranel will take the oath of office and be sworn in for his third term as the 49th Assembly District Representative at the State Capitol in Madison.
