Rep. Tranel Requests Rural Schools Hearing

Madison – Today, State Representative Travis Tranel sent a letter to the Chair of the Speaker’s Task Force on Rural Schools, Rep. Rob Swearingen, to formally request that the committee hold a hearing in the 49th Assembly District.

“We have great schools in Southwest Wisconsin,” said Tranel. “My hope is that the committee will consider holding a task force hearing in my district soon. The citizens I represent would like an opportunity to share their views and insights regarding the challenges rural schools face.”

The Speaker of the State Assembly, Robin Vos, created the Rural Schools Task Force to investigate innovative solutions to address the complex issues confronting rural school districts in Wisconsin.

The committee is working to create partnerships among school districts, explore new avenues to share innovations, address future transportation needs, map out strategies for long-term financial stability, develop tactics to handle declining enrollment, and maximize opportunities for advanced technology.

To share your views about rural schools please feel free to contact Representative Tranel at 608-266-1170 or Rep.Tranel@legis.wi.gov
