This week Representative Travis Tranel (R-Cuba City), member of the State Assembly Committee on Agriculture, sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue to request the elimination of burdensome government regulations that limit the sale of 15 percent ethanol (E15) gas during the summer months.

“The federal government needs to act now to help Wisconsin farmers by getting rid of these outdated regulations that negatively impact our state’s farm economy,” said Tranel. “We need to do whatever we can to help expand markets for Wisconsin Ag and biofuel producers during these challenging times.”

Removing outdated E15 regulations will help to foster more competition and give consumers a lower-cost fuel option during the busy summer driving season, while at the same time helping to grow Wisconsin’s $88 billion agricultural industry.
