$1 Billion Rural Economic Development Fund Bill Passes the State Assembly

Madison… Today the Rural Economic Development Fund bill (AB 912) passed the Wisconsin State Assembly 95 to 0.  This legislation will invest $50 million per year over the next twenty years into 56 rural Wisconsin counties to promote rural economic development and entrepreneurial startups.

“It is great my colleagues in the state legislature stepped up tonight and supported a significant sustained investment in rural Wisconsin,” said Tranel.  “Working with Governor Walker, WEDC, and local rural economic development leaders we were able to craft a good bill that will help our rural communities compete, create jobs, and prosper.”

Assembly Bill 912 now moves forward to the Wisconsin State Senate for consideration.
